For the Groomsmen

This idea from a client of mine. Share a pre-wedding toast with your groomsmen with these spectacular, manly gifts for the dudes. Above: Whisky rocks from Gumps. Below: Reidel Whiskey Tumblers from Tiffany & Co engraved with their initials and Recchiutti Whiskey Pairing Box containing chocolates to pair with select whiskies.

Audi A8 Product Launch

Where did August go? Many events to post about and I can't wait to get back all the professional photos but I wanted to share a few snapshots from the table settings at Audi (before all the lights, candles and drama!). I designed this event in conjunction with Michael Daigian Design and Studio Creative.

We wanted the look to be masculine and modern while still feeling warm and luxurious. Maya Lin's phenomenal sculpture for the De Young Museum and the California Academy of Sciences was my inspiration for the floral arrangements. And the hand blown glass votive candles added that extra touch of richness.

Baby Shower for Charlotte Grace

A beautiful baby shower for Charlotte Grace, aka "Charlie" hosted by Stephanie Masquelier of Flours for her friend Maya. I just loved the fresh, modern, girlie look of turquoise and green together and all the special touches Stephanie and I worked on together. The invitations and photos are by the fabulous and talented Kristen Loken.

This Weekend

I'm off to a weekend of fabulous events for Phoebe & Chris. I'm so excited to work in the gorgeous Grace Cathedral and the War Memorial Opera House. What classic San Francisco venues.

Happy weekend!

Genius Faux-Calligraphy

I just discovered this post on Design*Sponge and I'm having one of those, "why didn't I think of that!?" moments.

Calligraphy is such a nice touch for wedding invitations but it does come with a pretty price tag. Handwriting is a nicer gesture than xerox printing but it always looks sloppy and unfinished. If you're looking for a place to save and have some time to devote to this project, cut out the expense of professional calligraphy and use this tip.

Find a fancy script you like online and print the envelopes (faintly) with the font. Then go over the envelopes with a paint pen in your own handwriting. I'm sure it requires a steady hand and a lot of concentration but you end up with a beautiful script in your own penmanship. Now why didn't I think of that?

Summer Reading

A few great books to check out as summer comes to an end.

The Catch-All Wedding Planner
Mindy Weiss
put together the quintessential planning guide that covers everything you need to know from putting together a budget to finding a florist. Super helpful and well organized it answers most of your wedding questions.

The Destination Planner
If you're having a destination wedding, Alison Hotchkiss of Alison Events gives great tips and sets the modern girls rules to destination wedding etiquette. This book helps identify what you need to try to control and what you need to let go of when planning your destination wedding.

The Style Setter

Pure eye candy and design inspiration from Tara Guerard of Soiree. Original, elegant, lavish and tasteful, this book shows how a wedding with an unlimited budget can be over the top without being ostentatious.

Trashy Beach Reads

Nora Roberts has put together an engrossing series of books about four best friends from high school who start a wedding company together called Vows. The Bride Quartet series chronicles the story of each friend falling in love and planning her wedding from the Photographer to the Florist to the Pastry Chef and finally (coming out this Winter) the Planner. A super fun read for anyone who loves all things wedding.
